While we're big advocates of the products that line our bathroom shelves, sometimes your skin needs the hands of a professional to give it a new lease of life.
With booze, food and late nights abundant throughout the festive period, your complexion has most likely taken several hits in the form of blemishes, dark circles, and dullness over the last few weeks.
The solution? Rejuvenating massages, luxurious serums, and LED therapy that packs a punch. Whether it's acid peels or moisturising masks, treating yourself to a facial will kickstart your skin for the new year. After all, no one wants to start 2018 looking thoroughly worn out.

Industry-adored Hungarian skincare brand Omorovicza began when Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza brought his wife to the Rácz spa his family had built in the 1800s. After falling for the mineral-rich water and its effect on their skin, the couple enlisted a Nobel Prize-winning dermatology lab to create a skincare line.
The brand recently opened its first permanent treatment room in the UK. Set in Liberty London's Beauty Rooms, it's recreated the tranquil and therapeutic aspects of the historic spa.
Our pick is the glow-boosting Illuminating Facial. The first step is a gentle peel that's enriched with copper, for an antioxidant collagen-stimulating hit. A traditional Hungarian facial massage then encourages circulation, before an essence rose and peony mask plumps and softens.
Omorovicza Illuminating Facial, Beauty Rooms at Liberty London, £125 for 60 minutes
Dr Joney De Souza trained under one of Brazil's most renowned doctors, Dr Mauricio Do Maio, has over 15 years of experience, and is a member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine. He's an advocate of using the most high-tech equipment and tools to deliver customers their best skin, which is one of the reasons his Marylebone salon draws high-profile clients.
Most recently, De Souza launched his Brazilian Zero Facial, "for fantastic results getting the best from the latest technologies and combining it with nature from my home, Brazil.” To begin, he uses face mapping systems to clearly outline skin issues, before his super facialist Milena (who previously worked with Dr Frances Prenna Jones) creates a customised facial using papaya, pineapple and detoxifying Brazil nuts. Next, microdermabrasion, IPL, and LED are used, leaving skin clarified and softer. Your before-and-after photos will prove it.
The Brazilian Zero, Dr Joney De Souza Skin & Laser Clinic, £250 for 60 minutes
bliss has been a staple of the skincare scene since its '90s heyday but don't think it hasn't evolved with the times. In fact, while the brand offers an extensive range of facials, from the acne-busting to exfoliating, we always return to its signature treatment: the Triple Oxygen Facial.
A radiance reviver that delivers a targeted peel, an enzyme mask, and three shots of oxygen (including a wrap and a vitamin-packed o2 spray), it's a real skin overhaul. The beauticians also extract blemishes, which although isn't the most glamorous of processes, is the best and most hygienic way of removing black- and whiteheads.
Triple Oxygen Treatment, bliss Spa London, £150 for 85 minutes
In January, Elemis has a 3-for-2 offer at its Mayfair spa. Book two facials from its Touch or Technology treatment menus and you'll get a third complimentary treatment, plus a product from the Frangipani range. While the Dynamic Resurfacing Precision Peel gives skin a kick-start, the Sensitive Skin Booster is perfect for a post-party face.
A vibrational massage is initially used to strengthen and revitalise the skin, before Moroccan rose, chamomile and apricot are used to cleanse and exfoliate. A final hydration hit is given via a nourishing neroli mask.
Sensitive Skin Soother, House of Elemis, £95 for 60 minutes
If you've ever tried Jurlique's products, you'll know the power behind one of its key ingredients: rose. With antioxidant properties, the botanical is packed with soothing and repairing elements.
Great news, then, that the brand offers a new 75-minute facial based on this hero component. Firstly you'll be given a 15-minute back massage using warm rose oil before your skin is cleansed and steamed for a squeaky-clean base. Next, a mask is applied to battle clogged pores and dehydration, before a toner-mist is sprayed over the skin to finish.
Ultimate Rose Indulgence Facial, available at Jurlique's Oxford St flagship store and the Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane, £75 for 75 minutes
Skin Laundry offers therapy that takes just 15 minutes, meaning it's ideal for the pressed-for-time among us. The brand's Laser & Light Facial professionally cleans skin by combatting dirt, bacteria and pollutants (great for us city-dwellers). By vaporising these nasties, you're left with a bright, even, and softer complexion. A great treatment for your lunch break on January 2nd.
Light & Laser Facial, Beauty Rooms at Liberty London, £60 for 15 minutes
A visit to Pfeffer Sal is a truly blissed-out experience. The exposed-brick and candlelit underground spa is located in London's Fitzrovia, and from arrival to departure you're taken care of and made to feel fantastic. This one's for the beauty aficionados who know their retinol from their rosehip oil.
Our hero treatment from the brand is its Ultra Synergy Facial. A word of warning: make sure you don't have to leave the house the next day, as although your skin will be baby-new, it'll also be tomato-red. After a hypnotising massage and fruit enzyme peel, skin is numbed before microneedling, with the microscopic channels in the skin stimulating collagen and better absorbing Pfeffer Sal's patented blend of amino acids and vitamins, PS Beauty Secrets #1.
Next up, one of our all-time favourite products, Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum, is massaged into skin, before powerful LED assists healing. Your skin will feel brand new instantly.
Ultra Synergy Facial, Pfeffer Sal, £250 for 90 minutes
Beauty & Melody's London-wide spas offer several facial treatments, but the most relaxing and rejuvenating has to be the Thalgo 3 Algae Facial. Using products from Thalgo's range – which collates 50 years of skincare expertise – your facialist will consult your skin and choose a line based on specific skin concerns.
Beginning with a massage with rhythms that channel the sea's waves, a dry sheet mask is placed over your skin with a pure natural seaweed mask applied on top. Lastly, a serum and moisturiser suitable for your skin are worked into the face.
Thalgo 3 Algae Facial, Beauty & Melody, £90 for 60 minutes
Arguably London's most in-demand facialist, Sarah Chapman's clientele includes celebrities and skincare fanatics alike. Known for her magic-working hands, Chapman's treatments are booked up well in advance – but they're so worth the wait.

Using advanced machine technology, next up is a deep cleanse using her Skinesis products, extraction, and clinical serums to penetrate the epidermis. With clients across the board crediting Chapman for their glowing skin, it's time to book an appointment, stat.
