Just a few days ago we looked back at the biggest fashion moments of 2017 but as 2018 fast approaches, it's now time to look forward and focus on the future and the faces that will be instrumental in shaping the industry in the year ahead.

The fashion set is relentlessly searching for the next big thing, whether it's the newest pair of trainers or a cult bag, the latest designer disrupting trends, a fresh model making waves on the catwalk or a young photographer or stylist challenging the way we see clothes.

As we prepare to welcome a new year, get acquainted with the emerging talent ahead, who are all about to burst onto the scene in a big way.

The Brand: Nanushka

Nanushka was founded by creative director Sandra Sandor in 2005, soon after graduating from the London College of Fashion. Over a decade later and the Budapest-based brand is now stocked in more than 30 countries worldwide and worn and adored by everyone including Gigi Hadid, Camille Charrière, Alex Carl and Tiffany Hsu.

Nanushka is driven by the desire to build a bridge between intuitive and functional design, offering modern twists on wardrobe classics, from elegant trench coats and lightweight dresses to chic tailoring, T-shirts and puffer jackets. Confident ease being the basis of the brand’s aesthetic, it offers easy-to-wear pieces with subtle femininity, elevated quality, and unexpected details, priced between £50-500. Get to know now.

The Street Style Star: Jan-Michael Quammie

In August 2017, Jan-Michael Quammie left her role as fashion director of InStyle Germany to focus on freelance styling, creative direction and brand consulting, as well as editing Material magazine. Previously a stylist and buyer at Net-A-Porter and MyTheresa, it's no wonder her wardrobe and masterfully layered outfits are pretty much unrivalled. As a new season of shows kicks off soon, prepare to be mesmerised by her looks at all the fashion weeks, from Copenhagen to New York.

The Front Row Favourite: Hermione Corfield

You may recognise this 23-year-old Brit actress from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies or King Arthur: Legend of the Sword but we're certain her face will soon become even more familiar as Corfield continues to be courted by the fashion world, as well as the film industry of course. We're predicting a Miu Miu or Burberry campaign in the coming months...

In the meantime, the actress has already sat front row at Erdem, Christopher Kane and Burberry shows and has a penchant for gorgeous Alessandra Rich gowns.

The Model: Selena Forrest

Louisiana-born model Selena Forrest has taken the fashion world by storm ever since making her debut opening the Proenza Schouler SS16 show in 2015. Scouted on the beach in California a few years ago, the 18-year-old tomboy model looks just as at home on her skateboard as she does on the catwalk for Louis Vuitton, on the cover of i-D or in a campaign for Alexander Wang.

The Stylist: Alex Carl

If you're an avid follower of street style stars then you're most likely already aware of stylist and Rika fashion director Alexandra Carl and her immaculately dressed set of friends, including Pernille Teisbaek and Sara Blomqvist. Carl, who grew up in Copenhagen, used to model before she picked up styling at the tender age of 16. Now residing in Shoreditch, London, the stylist has worked with adidas, LOVE, H&M, Self-Portrait and Vogue and styled Rejina Pyo's debut show for SS18.

The It Kid: Lady Amelia Windsor

The 22-year-old minor royal (she's 36th in line to the throne) is currently on a year abroad from Edinburgh university, studying in Paris, before she moves to Milan to intern in fashion. Signed to Storm Models, Amelia has walked for Dolce & Gabbana and recently attended the Dior SS18 show. Watch this face.

The Photographer: Nadine Ijewere

Photographer Nadine Ijewere studied at the London College of Fashion, where she became perturbed by the stereotypical depictions of non-Western cultures in (fashion) media. Focused on creating more dynamic and diverse fashion images, Ijewere's photographs are powerful for her choice of captivating subjects, sets and costumes.

Ijewere has already exhibited her work against the most esteemed backdrops, from Tate Britain to the Lagos Photo Festival, and has worked with Selfridges, Vogue US, Stella McCartney, The Wall Street Journal and The New Yorker.

The Street Style Star: Irina Lakicevic

Serbian-born, London-based fashion consultant and blogger turned editor-in-chief of MINT Journal, Irina Lakicevic is more than just another stylish girl with an extensive wardrobe we envy. Lakicevic is also a professional children's dentist and a fine art enthusiast. Bet you weren't expecting that.

Expertly mixing labels such as Ganni and Balenciaga with J.W.Anderson, Prada, Mango and Céline, if you can't afford the luxury brands Lakicevic wears so well, she's worth keeping an eye on for her regular lessons in layering and images of inspiring interiors and art.

The Brand: The Vampire's Wife

Susie Cave, wife of singer Nick Cave, is the creative director and designer behind the hottest burgeoning brand, The Vampire’s Wife. Creating beguiling and ethereal gowns in sumptuous fabrics and prints, Florence Welch, Cate Blanchett, Elisabeth Moss, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Ruth Negga are already loyal fans.

But if dresses aren't quite your thing, The Vampire’s Wife launched its third sellout T-shirt earlier this month, collaborating with artist Karen Constance.

The Makeup Artist: Anne Sophie Costa

We've been following Anne Sophie Costa's wizardry for some time, from her colourful masterstrokes with 3ina to more unexpected, creative work with niche titles. We were lucky enough to collaborate with Anne Sophie on a winter beauty shoot earlier this month, when the makeup artist worked her magic using Fenty beauty products on model Georgia Palmer.

The Brand: Halpern

Michael Halpern began his career in New York after graduating with a BA from the Parsons School of Design. Straight after Parsons, he went on to work at J.Mendel and Oscar de la Renta before moving to London to study for a master's at Central Saint Martins.

His MA collection garnered much attention and was featured in AnOther, Dazed & Confused, LOVE, CR Fashion Book and Self Service. Halpern also caught the attention of Versace, and after graduating from CSM, Michael was hired to consult on the couture collection, Atelier Versace.

In February 2017, Michael debuted his eponymous brand Halpern during London Fashion Week to critical acclaim. Glittering, glamorous, feminine and luxurious, earlier this month, Adwoa Aboah chose a Halpern piece to wear to the Fashion Awards 2017. At the event, Michael Halpern won the award for British Emerging Talent. We look forward to seeing what the young designer does for his third collection, unveiled in February 2018.

The Model: Frederikke Sofie

20-year-old Danish model, Frederikke Sofie began her career walking for Paul Smith, Christopher Kane and Peter Pilotto, and has also starred in campaigns for Céline, Chloé, Ralph Lauren and H&M. Not bad for someone who's been working for just a few years.

Sofie has garnered a huge Insta following for her trademark curly blonde hair, array of oversized vintage glasses, and tomboy-chic wardrobe. If you have a strong spectacle collection or an interest in Scandi style, follow this supermodel-in-the-making now.

The Front Row Favourite: Laura Harrier

Impossibly gorgeous actress Laura Harrier (just look at that pout and that skin!) recently starred in the Spider-Man reboot but is also muse to some of our favourite designers. Raf Simons' Calvin Klein debut in February 2017 was the first show Harrier ever attended but fast-forward a few months and Simons was custom-making her a dress for the Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere and she now works closely with Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton too.
