Autumn is in full swing and so far we've been blessed with some pretty lovely cold and crisp autumnal weather.

Although we love the mix of chilly mornings and sunny afternoons, dressing for this transitional season can be tricky. To coat or not to coat? To melt on the Tube or freeze in the office? You aren't alone in wondering how to style out October. Here's what the R29 team are mulling over this month, from suits and silks to cosy knits.

Note: animal prints and delicate jewellery are still going strong.

I think it’s about time I grew up and swapped my battered denim jackets and Harringtons for a blazer. I'm still living by my no-black shopping rule, and this midnight blue is a chic alternative.

Arket Corduroy Blazer, £150, available at Arket

It would be rude not to get the trousers too, right? My last wedding of 2018 is in Paris this November. I’m thinking this, the jacket, no top underneath and some black wedges. Très bon!

Arket Wide Corduroy Trousers, £79, available at Arket

I scroll Miista approx three times a week, oohing and ahhing over which pair of handcrafted shoes to blow my recently paid-off credit card on. I love the asymmetric upper, and the low-but-still-a-heel heel which is perfect for someone grazing 6ft, like me.

Miista Coraline Navy Croc Leather Flats, £200, available at Miista

The new Comme des Garçons Play x Converse All Star dropped this month and I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair. I love the khaki but these white ones, complete with a train of the brand’s signature hand-drawn hearts will go with everything, from floral dresses to kick flare denim.

Play Converse Multi Heart Chuck Taylor High Top (White), £110, available at Dover Street Market

Guys, I wear silk scarves now. It could be inspired by the several I saw at the SS19 shows in September, or it could be my infatuation with The Crown finally seeping into my wardrobe. Either way, I’m digging it. Richard Quinn’s prints are a thing of beauty, and I’ll be tying this Boy Scout-style (a.k.a. with the corners falling down the back and the knot at the front of the neck.)

Richard Quinn Printed Silk-Twill Scarf, £235, available at Matches Fashion

When I saw these at the Finery AW18 press preview, I squealed. The square toe, snakeskin finish, block heel and stiff tongue are all elements of my ideal shoe. They will make denim more fancy and dresses more formal. Divine.

Finery Joelyn Black Leather Heeled Loafer, £129, available at Finery

I love oversized jumpers but sometimes an outfit calls for a fitted one, of which I have none. I've recently bought these fabulous mustard high-waist vintage trousers from Beyond Retro and paired with this cropped knitted top, what a look it will be.

& Other Stories Open Crochet Knit Top, £45, available at & Other Stories

Aries is hands down the coolest streetwear brand to come out of London, imho. My only qualm is how spenny their clothes are, but believe it or not I don't own a single belt so this purchase is practical – right?

Aries Made Up Belt – Black, £95, available at Goodhood

I'll be channelling my inner gothic Lolita with these easy-to-clean Mary Janes.

Charles & Keith Brogue Detail Mary Janes, £49, available at Charles & Keith

My birthday is in October and I always get myself a little present; this time I'm opting for these red cowboy-style beauties, because why not?

Mango Leather Cowboy Ankle Boots, £99.99, available at Mango

October is the month dedicated to shoes (well... according to me). These cowboy boots from Ganni are a good transitional shoe when I don't want to wear tights, since it isn't cold enough yet. Just look at them – they are perfection!

Ganni Marlyn Boots, £460, available at Ganni

Last one on the cowboy style craving, I promise! Less trendy and more classic, these Chloé babies are perfect for your (my) closet. You’re very welcome.

Chloé Rylee Ankle Boots, £690, available at Net-A-Porter

I rue the day I heard about Rixo, because now I can’t stop staring longingly at this dress and that belt. I want it, I want it all.

Rixo Alice Black Leopard Midi Dress, £265, available at Rixo

These Rio Earrings remind me of an abacus. They look a lot more expensive than the £29 price tag, and can I get half-price if I only plan on wearing one?

Violet Black Jewellery Rio Earrings, £29, available at Violet Black Jewellery

This T-shirt is a nice colour and what a good reminder to us all.

Nasty Gal Be Fucking Nice Relaxed Tee, £13, available at Nasty Gal

I’m just saying… it’s my birthday at the end of October. So I’ll just be leaving these brilliant Ganni boots right here. Friends, fam, take note plz.

Ganni Alma Boots, £240, available at Ganni

I’ve been looking for an initial necklace for a while now. These mini ones from NYC-based 'The M Jeweller' are pretty much perf and would look beaut layered up over a jumper – standard procedure.

The M Jeweller The Mini Gothic Initial, £91.30, available at The M Jeweller

Aries tees are just the best, super soft and they last forever, totally worth the extra dolla. This carrier bag one is a vibe, can’t wait to team it with a mini skirt and trainers.

Aries Carrier Bag Superlong Sleeve T-shirt, £102, available at Aries

I find jumpsuits to be the best thing to wear when travelling through the depths of hell, i.e. the underground and then ending up in a freezing office. Whatever the temperature, a jumpsuit adapts.

Mango Bow Long Jumpsuit, £49.99, available at Mango

As October looms, boots will be in full bloom! Animal print is not going anywhere, so these snakeskin boots are perfect for the start of autumn, day or night.

Office Ambassador Lace Up Boot, £105, available at Office

I love big, bold earrings and these are perfect for making a statement. I especially like the Indian-inspired design.

ASOS DESIGN Hoop Earrings in Adorned Design in Gold, £8, available at ASOS

I love suits! But I keep going for wild colours, which make quite the statement. So I’ll keep it simple with this classic navy one... for now….

Arket Wool Hopsack Blazer, £135, available at Arket

When that first chill in the air arrives, this beret shall be ready and waiting to be artfully perched on my head. Hats are my AW staple and I’m so excited for us to be reunited.

& Other Stories Wool Beret, £23, available at & Other Stories

My boyfriend bought me these in white for my birthday (what a mega babe). They’re my fave shoes and I think I need a black pair to wear with tights… obviously.

adidas Sambarose Shoes, £74.95, available at JD

The shape and tortoiseshell pattern of this bad boy is all class. The petite size also makes digging for my phone that much easier.

Mango Methacrylate Bag, £89.99, available at Mango

This gorge glossy raincoat is sure to lift my rainy-day moods and guarantee that I’ll actually leave the house (in style).

Rains Hooded Glossed-PU Raincoat, £120, available at Net-A-Porter

Sensible block heels are a staple in my wardrobe and I would very much like these to be a part of my closed toe rotation.

Topshop Elise Leather Boots, £49, available at Topshop

Can we please take a minute to appreciate just how amazing & Other Stories' jumper collection is this season? I’m totally in love with this cosy-looking white jumper which I’ll be pairing with loose boyfriend jeans and my long camel coloured coat.

& Other Stories Oversized Cable Knit Turtleneck, £79, available at & Other Stories

I’ve recently got back into wearing earrings, and since I’ve been a big fan of Rachel Jackson for a long time I wanted to give her collection a shout out. I love these eclectic ear crawlers and her product warnings make me laugh: "You may suddenly feel amazing."

Rachel Jackson Electric Goddess Ear Crawlers, £35, available at Rachel Jackson London

If you thought gingham was just for summer, think again. I’m still mourning the loss of my gingham jumpsuit that shrunk after one wash (cheers Topshop). So I’ve got my eye on this beauty from Mango to fill the void.

Mango Gingham Check Dress, £49.99, available at Mango

Aside from the fact I’ve been told that the fox is my 'spirit animal', I love how Alice keeps it simple, without losing the magic.

Alice Eden Fox Claw Hoop Earrings, £70, available at Alice Eden

I love a jumpsuit! And I can feel good about this navy number because Ninety Percent gives the majority of its profit to charity. Also check out their perfect bodysuits.

Ninety Percent Zip-Back Jumpsuit, £140, available at Ninety Percent

I know it’s autumn but I can’t quite give up the white Converse yet! Mine are trashed, so I’ll invest in a new pair to see me through until it gets too cold for canvas.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star, £65, available at Goodhood

I tend to prefer smaller, delicate necklaces which is why this little guy caught my eye. It’s been designed by a wonderful Irish jewellery designer named Emma who is also the owner of The Temple Wolf. It’s an outline of home, which I enjoy.

The Temple Wolf The Éire Ireland Map Necklace, £17.84, available at The Temple Wolf

I love a decorative shirt, although I find myself struggling to pull off a busy pattern. But this silky number, I can do.

Never Fully Dressed Chester Ivory, £59, available at Never Fully Dressed

Giant knitted jumpers are my favourite thing about October.

& Other Stories Wool Blend Turtleneck Sweater, £69, available at & Other Stories

I’m still refusing to wear a coat, instead choosing to keep warm with accessories. Move over Lenny Kravitz, this blanket scarf is the cosiest I’ve seen yet.

Acne Kelow Fringed Scarf, £210, available at Matches Fashion

I've finally tracked down the jeans I keep spotting on Instagram; no shocker that they're from Ganni.

Ganni High-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans, £150, available at Net-A-Porter

Autumn. In earrings.

Aurélie Bidermann Aurélie Mismatched Charm Earrings, £155, available at Matches Fashion
