There's a fruit revival happening...in tattoo parlours.
Check your favourite tattoo artists' feeds, and you'll notice that teeny tiny fruit is popping up more often than Chrissy Teigen tweets. (And that's a lot.)
Kelly Thorn, a graphic designer, illustrator, and hand-poke artist, recently told Refinery29 that she's noticed the sudden uptick in fruit imagery. Although she specialises in flash tattoo designs, she's gotten more than a few fruity requests, especially for the inner arm (a personal favourite of ours).

Thorn tells us that one of her juicy signatures includes a smiley face comprised of — you guessed it! — fruit. "The fruit face actually originates from this random face I drew over and over again in high school. It consisted of tomato eyes, a mushroom nose, and a tomato mouth," Thorn explains. "I revisited the design in March 2017, after giving myself a fruity tattoo for my birthday."
"The fruit face took a while to catch on," Thorn recalls. "Jessica Hische was actually the first one to get it, and hers will forever be my favourite because she insisted on having me sign the design with my initials. Since then, many other fruit faces have followed, each one a bit different."
But why fruit? "[It's] bright and light-feeling. Fruit makes you feel good," says Thorn.
The only thing that could make this tattoo design better is tons of color. Artist Jess Chen's stick-and-poke work nearly looks like the real thing.

Newsflash: Cherries are trending — and not just in nail art.
A cherry tattoo so good, you need two of them.
In this tattoo done by Hannah Kang, the stone fruit is joined by one zesty orange.
And the fleshy fruity got a makeover thanks to New York artist Mira Mariah.
Sorry Elio, but tangerines are our new afternoon delight.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but stone fruits, like these plums, make the best tattoos.
