September is fashion's most sacred month – it's when the big fashion issues come out, it's London Fashion Week time, and you've got the best high street and designer collections to shop. With that in mind, and the summer sun dimming, we're eyeing up our first pieces for autumn. From earthy hues to delicate gold jewellery (hoops and necklaces), jewel tones and Chelsea boots, hopefully our September picks will add a bit of spark on an overcast morning.

Sorry lads, but I’m over summer and have my sights firmly set on AW18. I was made for the colder months, where velvet, leather, faux fur and corduroy reign supreme and I don’t perspire 24/7. This ginger kick-flare suit from & Other Stories will go with turtlenecks, silk blouses, printed T-shirts and every one of my 500 pairs of Chelsea boots.
& Other Stories Kick Flare Corduroy Trousers, £49, available at & Other Stories

Okay maybe my outrageous and frankly stupid collection could do with one more pair. I don’t have a dark green croc-effect pair after all.
Miista Carlota Dark Green Croc Leather Boots, £265, available at Miista

I’m a dedicated wearer of silver jewellery, but I’ve seen so many classic gold hoops around recently. These are not too big, not too small, not too thin, not too thick – just right. I will be buying in due time.
COS Mid-Hoop Earrings, £10, available at COS

This cowboy shirt and leather skirt combo from Maje is the perfect representation of my September: a bit chilly at night but still relatively warm enough to let my legs out. This will be part of my AW18 wardrobe for sure.
Maje Short Leather Skirt, £315, available at Maje. Check out Maje at Westfield London, Shepherd's Bush.

& Other Stories’ new collection is giving me life. I am so ready for autumn, but still sad that summer is gone. So I choose to mix and match summer and autumn pieces, like these gorgeous overalls, which you can wear with a tiny crop top and sandals when it’s warm, or a long-sleeved blouse and heeled boots when it’s not.
& Other Stories Wide Corduroy Overalls, £89, available at & Other Stories

Weekday just released a denim collection, including this nice beige bucket hat.
Weekday Ecru Bucket Hat, £12, available at Weekday

This blouse needs no introduction, it speaks for itself. It makes a statement while remaining minimal. I call it complex simplicity.
Ohheygirl Puffy Sleeve Corset Style Blouse, £65, available at Ohheygirl

This three-piece pan-Africanist dainty necklace set was made for me. I love how you can customise your own set, so I might swap out the pendant at the bottom for the praying hand one here.
Frugal Finds NYC Africa Map Pendants, £15.49, available at Frugal Finds NYC

This is just standard procedure, old school Nike TNs in my all-time favourite colour: black.
Nike Air Max Plus , £84.95, available at Nike

Seen on all the Danish babes at Copenhagen Fashion Week, I’m all about cycling shorts with an oversized long-sleeved tee and a chunky trainer. Ja!
H&M Jersey Cycling Shorts, £12.99, available at H&M

Ridiculously expensive but imagine this super oversized T-shirt with the cycling shorts *drools*
Heron Preston Embroidered Printed Cotton-Jersey T-Shirt, £175, available at Mr Porter

And to finish off the look…this gorgey 'Drop It Like It's Hot' necklace from Wald Berlin.
Wald Drop It Like It’s Hot Shell Necklace, £171.43, available at Wald

I’ve been watching a lot of ABBA music videos lately (can’t recommend "SOS" enough) and it’s had a direct influence on what I want to wear. These are the closest I can get to a daytime "Waterloo" moment and I’m going to wear them a lot, now that we can wear closed toe shoes again.
ASOS ROSANA Leather Block Heeled Boots, £45.50, available at ASOS

I mentioned the ABBA thing right? I love this deep aubergine colour and clothes that are equal parts practical, understated and ostentatious. Going to wear this to my friend’s hen do; greatly looking forward to my drunken attempts to wiggle out of it when I go to the bathroom. It’s great for work too, will go wonderfully under lighter jackets and heavier coats when it comes time to dig them out.
Mango Long Palazzo Jumpsuit, £49.99, available at Mango

I’m obsessed with this suit. Obsessed. I’m telling anyone who will listen that waistcoats are making a comeback (you heard it here first) and this is a prime example. If Susan from Friends was getting married in 2018, this is what (I hope) she’d wear. So I’m going to wear it instead, as a tribute, either to an autumn wedding or maybe even my own. I’ll also wear both pieces individually: the waistcoat with a pleather mini skirt and Dr Martens, and the trousers with a white T-shirt and my Vejas.
Topshop Wide Leg Suit, £88, available at Topshop

After stalking Copenhagen Fashion Week photos, I am here for the flip-flops. You’ll catch me walking around London, probably in the rain, with my yellow flip-flops and so much BDE (Big Danish Energy).
Havaianas Top, £18, available at Havaianas

I’m not late to the party, I know the album came out a month ago. But I’m still not over it, okay? Nothing says September like long sleeves with ya legs out.
Scorpion Nonstop Lyric Long Sleeve T-shirt, £46.50, available at Tour Life

This with the aforementioned flip-flops is a winner! And with a cheeky leg slit. Guess who’s only going to shave one leg...
Topshop Wrap Pinstripe Skirt by Boutique, £75, available at Topshop

It hurts how much I want these multicoloured Sandro trainers. So much so that I made up a little poem about them. Here you go: Pain pain, I know your name. I want the trainers with the flame. Yes I know my poem is lame. But I want them all the same.
Sandro Trainers With Flames On The Sole, £209, available at Sandro

Desperately clinging to the last long days of summer with this one. It’s got staying power in September, though, if worn with layers underneath or a light jumper and trainers. And boy, it’s pretty.
Intropia Floral Pattern Midi Dress, £123.32, available at Intropia

I currently own one handbag, and it’s my mum’s from the '80s. I was thinking maybe I should get one. I don’t need anything that makes a ‘statement’, just one that holds my keys, lip balm, tissues and wallet. This one?
Mango Leather Cross Body Bag, £35.99, available at Mango

Dressing for work in September can be tricky. This cute pinafore dress is perfect for looking smart but staying cool this month.
ASOS Design Petite Button Up Mini Pinafore Skirt, £25, available at ASOS

Gold hoops have been all the rage this summer but I’m all about big statement earrings. I love these colourful ones, which will elevate a simple white T-shirt and jeans.
Accessorize Mottled Resin Earring, £10, available at Accessorize

Leopard print will always be my first love and this jacket is EVERYTHING. Smart but sassy, the ultimate power look for early autumn.
ASOS DESIGN Leopard Coat, £75, available at ASOS
