Jorja Smith, Little Simz, Kali Úchis, Princess Nokia and Tommy Genesis are a few names you might have heard of. These twentysomething creatives, hailing from London, New York, Virginia and Vancouver, are steadily dominating their genres of hip-hop, rap and R&B.
Each with their own distinct sound, they represent the new wave of vocalists leading the Instagram generation. Smith and Úchis create moody, nostalgic music reminiscent of '90s R&B, while Nokia, Simz and Genesis are forging their paths in the male-dominated world of rap and hip-hop.
While their tracks are undoubtedly influential, it's their personal style that draws us beyond the music. From bandanas to bling, trousers, co-ords and plaid, we've zoned in on a key element of the aesthetics that make these women as Instagrammable as they are pitch-perfect. Click through to find out what makes up their style DNA, and where to buy their pieces.
Jorja Smith – Bandanas
Twenty-one-year-old Smith is Britain's breakthrough vocalist, with chart-topping singles like "Beautiful Little Fools", "Carry Me Home" and "Let Me Down". Her smooth, soulful voice transports you to the decade of moody, hypnotic R&B. Smith's sound is as distinct as her style, which moves between loose tracksuits and sultry animal-print minis – always accessorised with come-to-bed eyes, barely there makeup, box braids and bandanas.

Kali Úchis – Bling
You've probably heard of Kali, the 24-year-old Colombian hailing from Virginia who released her debut album "Isola†ion" in April of this year. Her unique combination of raggaeton and neo soul is rivalled only by the contemporary-kitsch aesthetic that her 1m Instagram followers (us included) can't get enough of. Central to Kali's sartorial finesse are form-fitting colour-drenched looks, embellished with crystals and pearls and inspired by '50s and '90s glamour.

Little Simz – Trousers
Little Simz, affectionately known as Simbi, is the 24-year-old lyricist from London commanding respect within the male-dominated world of hip-hop. As the great Aaliyah once said, "Age ain't nothing but a number" and Simbi is certainly one to watch. Until we meet this supremo of swagger, we'll admire her smart trousers, fresh shades and cool kicks through our screens.

Princess Nokia – Co-ords
Raised in the streets of Spanish Harlem, Nokia produces cult hip-hop tracks like "Brujas" and "Tomboy". An avid intersectional feminist and anti-colonialist, the musician frequently confronts social issues of race, gender, sexuality and class in her lyrics. A self-proclaimed emo girl and tomboy, her style fluctuates between loose-fitting Bronx-inspired matching streetwear and sweet, floral two-pieces.

Tommy Genesis – Plaid
Don't let that sweet face fool you, Tommy Genesis is the budding queen of underground rap. Self-described as a "fetish rapper", Genesis hails from Vancouver with Tamil and Swedish roots. Her good-girl-gone-bad aesthetic plays a mix of high-school Lolita, with a touch of grunge and goth. Key pieces of Genesis' looks are pleated plaid miniskirts, hair slides, box braids and '90s buns.
