Whether you’re spending June in fluctuating British climes or somewhere more exotic, there are plenty of reasons to fire up your laptop and stick on the likes of iPlayer, All 4 and Amazon Prime.

The BBC’s June offerings include the return of hit female squaddie drama Our Girl, with Michelle Keegan’s Georgie now battling Boko Haram in Nigeria, and a special compilation of the female comics who’ve graced the famed Live At The Apollo stage.

Elsewhere, it’s Fifty Shades of Complicated as Sky Atlantic releases the fourth season of The Affair starring Dominic West and Ruth Wilson. And our favourite Derry Girls return to Channel 4 earlier than expected – as contestants on one of the new celebrity specials of The Crystal Maze.

Plus, the show that united a nation returns to ITV: Love Island.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Click through to see the best of June’s TV, and when to catch it.

600 Bottles of Wine

This bitesize Aussie web series follows Claire (creator Grace Rouvray) as she rejoins the dating pool following the breakup of her long-term relationship. For fans of Fleabag, Insecure, and watching shows on the commute (each episode is just 15 minutes long).

All four episodes available now, BBC3/BBC iPlayer

All Girls Live At The Apollo

A special two-part compilation featuring the female comics to have graced the stage at the Hammersmith Apollo, from Katherine Ryan and Roisin Conaty to Andi Osho and Shappi Khorsandi. Part of the Beeb’s Hear Her season, marking 100 years since the right to vote was first extended to women.

Sex, Lies and Secrets collection

Walter Iuzzolino – connoisseur of brilliant foreign telly and an actual person to boot – has put together a selection of his streaming platform’s most salacious and nail-biting shows for the summer. Flight HS13 and The Swingers – both from the Netherlands – are joined by Swedish thrillers Thicker Than Water and Before We Die.

Available as a box set from 3rd June, Walter Presents/All 4. Season 2 of The Swingers launches 17th June

Ackley Bridge

The drama about a merger between two Yorkshire schools – one predominantly white, the other predominantly Asian – returns for a second series. Think Waterloo Road meets Shameless, with lots of culture-clash comedy to balance out its more serious themes.

From 5th June, Channel 4/All 4

Dietland

The Good Wife ’s Julianna Margulies stars in this new Amazon series, based on Sarai Walker’s novel about a woman who ghostwrites letters for a women’s magazine – until she’s recruited by a vigilante group. A smart, feminist tale about modern beauty standards, from UnREAL co-creator Marti Noxon.

Our Girl

Another chunk of Our Girl ’s third series arrives on BBC1 this month, with Michelle Keegan’s Georgie now fighting the terrorist group Boko Haram in Nigeria. In a storyline ripped straight from the headlines, she ends up searching for missing girls.

Love Island

It’s the show that brought the nation together, with everyone from Liam Gallagher to Jeremy Corbyn and Adele raving about last year's series. There’s no doubt about it – unless you want to be mighty confused during every water cooler convo this June, you’ve got to tune in (sorry, we don’t make the rules!).

Quantico

Priyanka Chopra has got more media attention of late for being Meghan Markle’s BFF than for her acting. However, an actor she is, so do the right thing and make the most of her fearsome former FBI agent Alex Parrish while you can, as Quantico ’s final series arrives in the UK.

The Bold Type

A second season for Amazon’s likeable comedy based on the experiences of former US Cosmopolitan editor Joanna Coles. Think The Devil Wears Prada, minus the devil and plus a sense of sisterhood and levity.

From 13th June, Amazon Prime

The Affair

This drama was initially all about Dominic West and Ruth Wilson’s extramarital relationship, before broadening out to become a show about their characters’ fractured lives. Now it’s back, with our protagonists "alienated from each other, spinning further and further away from where they all began". Grab yer popcorn.

Flowers

The sadcom is the defining comedy genre of the 2010s – think Fleabag, Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi and Transparent. Another show that made quite the impression back in 2016 was Flowers, starring Julian Barratt and Olivia Colman as the struggling heads of the Flowers family. Here’s hoping its return has been worth the wait!

Poldark

With ITV’s Victoria now a winter period drama staple, Poldark takes up its summer slot for a second year running. As well as its usual Cornish setting, much of series four takes place in London, as Ross (Aidan Turner) heads to Westminster for what is likely to be the show’s penultimate series.

The Crystal Maze Celebrity Specials

Start the fans! Richard Ayoade returns for a new glut of celeb specials, with the cast of Derry Girls, Binky from MIC and Katie Price among those hoping to win some cash for charidee (not all at once, mind).

Airs from 8th June, Channel 4/All 4
