If you find getting up and out of bed during the summer hard enough, then no doubt you're really struggling right about now.

Once that alarm goes off and you realise that not only is it still dark outside but also that it's cold and raining, any willpower you had to leap out of bed and seize the day totally disappears.

Luckily, the tech world is working on fixing this issue and, as a result, there's a whole bunch of interesting products out there to give you night owls a helping hand in the morning during these super tough winter months.

Click through to see our favourites.

The Barisieur

Sadly, the already wildly popular Barisieur is only available for pre-order at the moment but, after an enormously successful Kickstarter campaign (they raised nearly $750,000), this British invention looks set to be a big deal when it finally starts shipping in February 2018.

Essentially, it's an alarm clock with a very fancy coffee maker attached, so you can wake up to the smell of freshly brewing coffee and, once you sit up, drink that very tempting freshly brewed coffee. What a dream.

The Barisieur, £260, available soon at The Barisieur

Philips Somneo Sleep and Wake-up Light

Yes, there are a lot of natural wake-up light alarm clocks on the market but this new Philips one has taken things to the next level. Not only does it do the whole simulating-a-natural-sunrise wake-up thing, you can also choose a soothing natural backing track to aid your awakening (ocean waves anyone?), or just use your own music.

It also has a sunset simulation to help you get to sleep and a guided breathing exercise to help you relax before bed, or first thing in the morning.

Philips Somneo Sleep and Wake-up Light, £189, available at Philips

AlarmMon

Oh my goodness me. While effective, definitely don't trial this alarm app in a public place unless you're a big fan of public humiliation.

This Korean game-based app lets you set an alarm, then wakes you up with super loud, maddening kiddie music and forces you to play games with super cute cartoon characters in order to turn it off. It will NOT let you turn the volume down – as we found out today in the office. Humiliated.

AlarmMon, free with in-app purchases, available on the App Store

Swan Teasmade

For a vintage version of The Barisieur, look to the Teasmade which, for some reason, stopped being popular around the time your mum was your age.

Essentially it's an alarm clock that makes you a cup of tea. TWO cups of tea in fact. If hot, fresh tea isn't an incentive to sit up in bed, I don't know what is.

Swan Teasmade, £59.99, available at Argos

Shake-N-Wake Alarm Clock

If you can't stand alarm noises in the morning and you find it puts you in a bad mood for the rest of the day, try this rather vintage-looking alarm clock which straps to your wrist and vibrates to wake you up.

Shake-N-Wake Alarm Clock, £12.99, available at Tesco Direct

Pavlok Shock Clock

This device claims to actually train your brain to wake up earlier. Pavlok (like Pavlov's Dogs) administers an actual shock(!) to users who don't get up when their alarm goes off.

Interestingly, the company claims that Pavlok users almost never actually get shocked because the brain learns when it's meant to wake up very quickly.

Pavlok Shock Clock, £99.92, available at Pavlok

Sensorwake Alarm Clock

This alarm clock uses another of your senses to pull you into consciousness: smell!

Choose from smells like coffee, cut grass, seaside, peppermint, and woodlands, and your alarm clock will emit these energising and gentle scents into your bedroom, waking you gently.

More fragrances are on the way, too, including orange juice, tea-tree and apple cinnamon.

Sensorwake Alarm Clock, £105.79, available at Sensorwake
